What is the EPC?

Kent Church Choir Festival:  Enjoy hearing our Sanctuary Choir and others during this event at Kent United Methodist Church Sunday, May 4, at 7:00 p.m.  Questions?  Contact Anthony Giles.

Young Adult Cinco de Mayo Party:  Join us Monday, May 5, at 7:00 p.m. at the Dempson’s for nachos and “The Three Amigos.”

The Annual Mother’s Day Men’s Chorus will be rehearsing on Wednesday, May 7, at 7:00 in the Adult Choir Room.  All men and boys are invited to sing with us on Mother’s Day, May 11.  Interested?  Contact Anthony Giles.

Children’s Choirs:  Celebration Singers will continue to rehearse on Wednesdays and Saturdays for their musical drama on May 18.  Cherub and Carol Choirs will continue to rehearse through Wednesday, May 7, at their normal times.

Mary Esther Circle:  All ladies are invited to join us for lunch on Wednesday, May 7, at 11:30 a.m. at the Golden Steer Restaurant in Kent.  Our regular classes will resume in September.

Hearts at Home is an evening of encouragement for homeschool moms.  Join us Thursday, May 8, at 7:00 p.m. in 1711.  Our topic is “Curriculum, Catalogs, and Websites: Show and Tell.”

Primetimers:  Sign up in the Narthex for the “Birthday Picnic” on Friday, May 16.  This is the Primetimers’ last big event before summer.

Young Adults 2nd Annual First EPC Camping Retreat:  Join us at Mt. Rainier’s Ohanapecosh Campground on Friday, May 23, through Monday, May 26.  If you are interested, call Jesse and Sarah Dempsen, by April 30, so they can plan for tents and food.  $30 covers all meals and activities.

Men’s Ministry Madness:   Men, ages 18 and older, and their sons are invited to join us Tuesday, May 27, as the Seattle Mariners take on the World Champion Boston Red Sox at Safeco Field at 7:10 p.m.  We have 70 tickets for this game and they cost $11 each (usually $19).  They will go fast.   Sign up on Sundays in the narthex today through May 25, or call Jeff Jeremiah at 253/859-3247.

Discovery Class:  Join us on Saturday, May 31, as we learn the distinctive beliefs, practices, and history of First EPC, as well as what membership in our church entails.  To register, write “Discovery Class” on your Welcome/Prayer Card and place it in the offering plate or call the church office, 253/859-8998.  A continental breakfast and lunch are provided.  Childcare is by reservation only.  Please bring a sack lunch for your children.

Lost and Found Items are displayed on tables in the hallway between the Narthex and the MPR and in the coat closet.  You may take items that have not been claimed after the second worship service on Sunday, May 11.  Leftover items will be donated to the Union Gospel Mission.

Summer Sunday School Is Just Around the Corner:  We need your help staffing our three classes for children:  2/3s, 4/5s, and K-2nd grades.  Teachers and helpers are needed thoughout the summer as all classes are staffed on a weekly basis by substitutes.  Sign-up clipboards are located at the Welcome Center and across from the Resource Room.

Parents:  If your child has special learning or other needs that you would like his/her Sunday School teacher to be aware of, please mention these to your child’s teacher and/or complete a Sunday School registration card with the information.  Cards are available in each class.

Parents of Elementary-Age Children: The church’s website has information to help you prepare your child for worship each week. The information is updated each Friday for the following Sunday. (click here)

Sermons Available on the Church Website: Sermons are accessible here on our website in a digital audio format.  Past sermons are available here in a text/document format that can be read and downloaded for printing.  (Note for 2007:  Not all new text sermons will be available for the time being because of limited ministerial staff.)
