Next Sunday

Take 5: Join us next Sunday, August 31, at 12:30 p.m. (after the second worship service) for a time of sharing musical talents for God’s glory.

Special Music

India Children’s Choir Concert: Everyone is invited to hear this choir on Wednesday, September 10, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. These children are descendents of the Hmar people, a former headhunter tribe. They will present a musical drama, “Headhunters to Hearthunters,” the story of the transformation of the Hmar tribe.

Ministry Opportunities

Cherub and Carol Choir Director position has not been filled.   We are looking for vibrant musical leadership for our youngest singers. Interested? Contact Anthony Giles.
Musical Possibilities: First EPC has opportunities for all ages from bell choir to cow bells. The following ensembles will begin rehearsals on Wednesday, September 17, and are currently open for new membership:
6:00-7:30 p.m. Bell Choir Sanctuary
6:00-6:30 p.m. Celebration Singers (3rd-6th grades) Choir Room
6:30-7:00 p.m. Crossroads (7th-12th grades) Choir Room
7:30-9:00 p.m. Sanctuary Choir (10th grade-adults) Sanctuary

(There will not be any Cherub or Carol Choirs until the director position is filled.)

Learning Opportunity

Discovery Class: Join us on Saturday, September 20, from 8:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. as we learn the distinctive beliefs, practices, and history of First EPC, as well as what membership in our church entails.  To register, write “Discovery Class” on your Welcome/Prayer Card and place it in the offering plate or call the church office, 253/859-8998.  A continental breakfast and lunch are provided.  Childcare is by reservation only. Please bring a sack lunch for your children.

Student Ministries

“The Great Escape” is scheduled for September 5-7. Registrations are due Sunday, August 31.  Forms are available in the Student Ministries office or at www.fepcyouth.org

Preparing for Fall

Wonderful Wednesday Dinners start September 10. Need more information? Pick up the peach-colored Wonderful Wednesday Dinner flyer in the narthex.
Make Sure Your Group Has a Room: Please fill out a new Facilities Scheduling Request for the 2008-9 school year and return it to the church office as soon as possible. A Facilities Use Request will ensure your room is reserved for your activity and that your information is on the church, bulletin, and newsletter calendars.

Even if your activity is offsite, it is important that a request be submitted. Forms are located in the church office workroom or you can request the form be sent to you via e-mail from secretary@fepc.org

Children's Ministries

Primary Church is a valuable contribution to our children during the worship service. To complete our team, we need 2-4 more teachers during the second service. If you would like to help or need more information, call Michele Rogers, 253/859-8998.
Attention, All Stockade Rangers and Interested Men and Young Men: Please attend the beginning-of-the-year leaders’ meeting on Wednesday, August 27, at 7:00 p.m. in 1611 in the Missions wing. Those who are interested in helping or teaching in this program for 3rd-6th grade boys are encouraged to attend.
September 7: Evening Children’s Programs Kick-off is September 3 at TLC Skate, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
The New Sunday School Year begins on Sunday, September 7 (children move forward to the next class).
